PALMDALE, LOS ANGELES COUNTY — October 22, 2026. Voters in Palmdale are approaching the November 3, 2026 municipal election, with City Council seats in Districts 3, 4 and 5 identified in official city documents. The City Clerk’s 2026 election page lists candidate statements, official notices, contribution reporting and the voting calendar.
Which seats are being contested?
The city identifies one councilmember each for District 3, District 4 and District 5, with four-year terms for the seats on the November 3 ballot. Its official page also notes that the District 5 nomination period was extended to August 12 after the incumbent did not file by the ordinary deadline. Voters should confirm the candidates actually listed for their own district rather than assume all three district contests appear on every Palmdale ballot.
Can you still register after October 19?
The city’s schedule names October 19 as the last day for ordinary registration. That does not necessarily mean an eligible Californian who missed the deadline has lost the right to vote: California offers Same Day Voter Registration (conditional voter registration) at authorized voting locations during the late-registration period. Check the California Secretary of State’s official guide and confirm with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.
Where to find candidates and district lines
Palmdale’s City Elections page links to 2026 candidate statements and its municipal district GIS map. Use a residential address in the city’s own district locator or LA County ballot lookup to confirm which council contest applies. The city does not claim that every registered voter lives in the same council district.
How can a mail ballot be returned?
The county coordinates Palmdale’s consolidated municipal election. Ballots can be returned using authorized county methods such as a staffed voting center, officially designated drop box or postal return according to the county’s instructions. For mail return, carefully check postage, required signature, postmark and receipt rules; do not assume a private collection box is an official ballot box.
Information voters should verify before election day
- Check registration and voter status through California’s official voter-status portal.
- Confirm your City Council district and the candidate names on your official sample ballot.
- Read the city’s posted candidate statements rather than anonymous social media summaries.
- Find a county-operated voting site and its verified days/hours through LA Vote.
- Review the separate statewide propositions and county ballot items applicable to your address.
Electioneering and political signs
California restricts campaigning within 100 feet of designated voting locations and official drop-off sites while voting is occurring. Home political signs, roadside signs and candidate advertising follow different laws and local rules; see California58’s nonpartisan sign-law explainer.
